Have You Heard About These Bruise Treatments?

You Won’t Stop Easy Bruising By Doing This!

Hello Again:

We’ve all heard various “old wives’ tales” about how Great Grandma used to cure common problems with something lying around the house or growing out in the back yard.  Over the next few weeks we’ll take a look at some of these cures and see if they really work.

When we’re subject to easy bruising, an unexpected bruise can be something that leaves us feeling stressed and drained. When we have to deal with that new bruise, even if we cannot explain our bruising or if it happens due to a light bump, we want to get rid of the bruise ASAP.

Remember that while there are some great treatments out there that can help get rid of our bruises fairly quickly, there are plenty of old wives’ tales that can leave us with the same old bruises or even worse bruising later on. We need to make sure that we have good information about these so-called “cures”.

First, leave the heat off of our bruise. Heat is going to make the blood vessels swell, and that leads to increased blood flow. Heat will help your body circulate more blood to the area, and that is the last thing that you want to happen with a new bruise.  Instead, why not put a cold pack on the bruise to encourage clotting?

Think about the fact that a bruise occurs when small blood vessels break underneath the skin.  When more blood comes to the bruise, it will get darker and even more dramatic.  Adding heat can make a bruise even bigger.

One common story that gets circulated a lot is that onions can help with healing a bruise.  Someone’s mom or cousin might have said that cold slices of onion can help bring down bruises, but save the onion for your hamburger.  If you put onion on your bruise, you are just going to smell like onions all day. The cold from an onion can help, but use a cold pack instead.  While an onion won’t make the bruise any worse, it is certainly not going to make it better.  Instead, look for a cure that will really help.

Another story that manages to hang around is that milk will help you heal a bruise.  Milk is great for building strong bones, but it does nothing for your bruise at all.  Milk should be used on our insides not our outside, and though the lactic acid in milk might be good for our skin, it will not help at curing our bruise. Milk, butter, and cottage cheese have all been suggested as bruise cures, but keep them in the refrigerator instead.

You should also know that Orajel and other similar products like that are not going to provide us any real relief when it comes to our bruises.  These things can reduce pain, and they are meant to reduce swelling, but they are not intended for the purpose of healing bruises.  The only benefit they are going to give us is some reduction of pain, so instead, look for something that is meant to address bruises specifically.

When we are looking to cure a bruise, or at least make it less noticeable, remember that everyone has their own best “old fashioned” way to cure it.  We all bruise differently, because our bodies are all different; so educate yourself to discover a cure that works for your bruises.  This education process may take some time, but finding the right cure for our each of us is definitely available if we look hard enough.

I think that it’s safe to say that each of us would rather overcome our tendency to bruise easily rather than have to find a cure for a bruise after it happens.  We all should know by now that following the Bruises Be Banned daily program can help us reduce bruising easily and prevent bruising altogether.

Remember that the only thing you have to lose by not following the Bruises Be Banned program is your social life due to your ugly bruises.

Until next time,
